Favorite Albums of 2014

This is a list of 20 of my favorite LP's and EP's from 2014.  These are not in any order, and are not my top 20, just are some of many projects that I listened to this year. These are some stand outs that have stayed in rotation.

======================================================================

Supastition - Honest Living EP

Get It Here:
https://supastition.bandcamp.com/album/honest-living-ep

Supastition has always been a dope emcee.  Bringing everyday life to his music, mixed with clever wordplay and a smooth style.  All the production on this project is handled by Croup, giving it a very whole and complete sound.

 Confidence presents Gdot & Born Feat. Edo G

Get It Here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/confidence-presents-gdot-born/id797302977

Extremely consistent producer Confidence teams up with Gdot & Born for a dope project, with multiple guest spots from veteran Edo G.  Definitely recommended for boom bap fans, or any Hip Hop fans in general.

=======================================================================

DJ Jean Maron - True School

Get It Here:
http://www.djjeanmaron.com/

French producer Jean Maron cooked up a sick album here.  Ill production with a plethora of veteran emcees.  The kind of album you can just play straight through, then start it over when it's done.

 ======================================================================

Awon & Dephlow - Dephacation

Get It Here:
https://dephacation.bandcamp.com/album/dephacation-produced-by-phoniks

Awon's been steady dropping bangers lately.  This album he hooked up with the smooth emcee Dephlow and producer Phoniks (Return To The Golden Era), giving it almost a group vibe on the album.  Also check out the other two albums he dropped this year.  Links below.

Also from Awon this year:
Awon & Kameleon Beats - Brighter Days

Awon - Matte Black Soul
 ======================================================================

Shad - Boarding Pass EP

Get It Here:
https://shadk.bandcamp.com/album/boarding-pass-ep

Shad is one of the cleverest emcees in the game, hands down.  His tricky wordplay and punchlines are always a step above the competitors.  Don't sleep on Shad!

 ======================================================================

Tonedeff - Hunter EP

Get It Here:
https://tonedeff.bandcamp.com/album/hunter-ep

Tonedeff is one of the most well-rounded artists ever.  A master of the craft, he always pushes the limits of what I think music is.  Nothing is out of place.  Every element of the song is properly polished.  Keep an eye out for his "Polymer" LP coming soon.

  ====================================================================

Gabriel Teodros & SoulChef -

Evidence of Things Not Seen

Get It Here:
https://gtandthechef.bandcamp.com/album/evidence-of-things-not-seen

This was a treat!  After Gabriel appeared on SoulChef's 2013 LP "Food For Thought", they went on to make a full album together.  SoulChef is one of my favorite producers, and Gabriel Teodros drops plenty of knowledge on this one.

=======================================================================

DJ ZID - Soul Elements

Get It Here:
https://djzid.bandcamp.com/album/soul-elements

Honestly, I checked this out based on the guest emcees (Awon, Nieve, J. Sands and others), but the production is really dope too.  Not just dope beats, but put together appropriately to make some great songs.

======================================================================

CunninLynguists -

Strange Journey Volume 3

Get It Here:
https://cunninlynguists.bandcamp.com/album/strange-journey-volume-three

This was a special project.  Fan-made project put together by CL where the fans decided who would be featured on the album, guest production, even helped make a music video!  This was a breakthrough album in terms of the way artists go about creating music.

======================================================================

CunninLynguists, The Grouch & Eligh -

The WinterFire EP

Get It Here:
https://cunninlynguists.bandcamp.com/album/the-winterfire-ep

A surprise EP between The Grouch & Eligh and CunninLynguists in conjuction with their west coast tour.

======================================================================

Innermood - Innermood EP

Get It Here:
https://innermood.bandcamp.com/album/innermood

Innermood is producer Hexsagon and emcee Phill Harmonix.  I checked this out because I'm a fan of Hexagon's production, but was definitely feeling Phill's rhymes too.  The duo has great chemistry on the tracks.

========================================================================

KnowMads - Dominoes EP

Get It Here:
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/knowmadfam

New EP from Seattle heads Knowmads.  Quality over quantity.

======================================================================

Croup - Circles

Get It Here:
https://croupbeatz.bandcamp.com/album/circles

Solo album from dope producer Croup, featuring a lot of the emcees he is known for working with- Don Cerino, Praverb The Wyse, Supastition and others.  Also includes instrumental versions of all the songs.

=======================================================================

DJ JS-1 - It Is What It Isn't

Get It Here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/it-is-what-it-isnt/id926416330

I always look forward to JS-1 albums.  No one else could consistently get so many dope emcees on one album.  Never compromising for radio play, this guy is strictly about the music.

======================================================================

Landon Wordswell - Dad

Get It Here:
https://landonwordswell.bandcamp.com/album/dad

Landon Wordswell is one of my favorite emcees.  I'm always quick to check out anything he puts out.  This one is another quality LP.
======================================================================

Epidemic & Tantu - The Soulution

Get It Here:
https://epidemic1.bandcamp.com/album/the-soulution

How to describe Epidemic?  Consistent.  All substance, no filler.  This duo has been steady dropping dope albums for the past few years.  Basically every song the make is ill.  Crazy multi-syllable rhyme schemes, insane flows and dope beats.  This EP is completely produced by Tantu, giving it an extra smooth listen.  Be sure to check out the other projects this year from half of Epidemic, Hex One.  Links below.

Also from Epidemic this year:
Hex One & B.B.Z. Darney - String Theory
https://epidemic1.bandcamp.com/album/string-theory

Hex One & 5th Element - Hologramz
https://epidemic1.bandcamp.com/album/hologramz

=====================================================================

MKV & Concept - Dreams & Reality

Get It Here:
https://mkvmusic.bandcamp.com/album/dreams-reality

Concept is currently one of my favorite producers.  I recommend any project that he did production on.  Also, MKV provides dope lyrics with a crisp delivery.  This duo put out dope EP last year as well.

======================================================================

EMC - The Turning Point

Get It Here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-turning-point/id867344587

Masta Ace, Punchline, Wordsworth & Stricklin came together again for another EMC project.  The EP is themed around them getting together to make another album, expected to drop in 2015.

======================================================================

Cormega - Mega Philosophy

Get It Here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/mega-philosophy/id878541271

Completely produced by the legendary Large Professor, Cormega shares his opinions on the world we currently live in.  Honestly, I was really impressed with this album.

===================================================================

CYNE - All My Angles Are Right

Get It Here:
https://hometapes.bandcamp.com/album/all-my-angles-are-right

Latest release from CYNE.  I'm always down with their sound.  All their albums have a unique vibe to them.  This one does too.
